Central Asian Conference Delegates Stop Off in Germany

At the end of last month, a delegation of Central Asian governmental and non-governmental specialists in HIV and drug use visited German drug-related projects in Berlin. The trip was part of the Vienna Express and was organised and funded by Deutsche AIDS-Hilfe e.V. (DAH), Fixpunkt and Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ).

The goal of the study trip was to strengthen communication between Central Asian and German specialists, as well as between the Central Asian delegation members themselves. Delegates represented Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan – countries with enormously different HIV and drug-related situations. For instance, in Kyrgyzstan substitution treatment has been successfully launched and approximately 1,000 people are receiving the treatment at the present time. In Kazakhstan, however, only 50 people receive have received this treatment and it is not available in Turkmenistan at all.

History of Epidemics, HIV/AIDS & Solidarity – Not Just Another City Tour of Dortmund!

On Sunday 4th July, 20 people took part in a tour of the German city if Dortmund, which was organised by AIDS-Hilfe Dortmund. This was an historical tour with a difference: the purpose was to visit sites that reveal how epidemics were treated in the past decades and centuries, as well as places that have played an important role in the response to HIV over the last 25 years.

City Walk on HIV Prevention – 25 Years of Aidshilfe Dortmund

During a city walk on Sunday July 4,  Aidshilfe Dortmund will draw attention to 25 years of successful HIV Prevention and will put a focus on harm reduction approaches and the situation in Eastern Europe.

The walk starts at 15.00  at Hauptbahnhof Nordaus-gang and it ends at Café KiCK at 17.30.
