‘Life Triumphs!’ in Chisinau’s Photo Exhibition

At 12 o’clock on Thursday 8th July, the Moldova office of AIDS Foundation East-West (AFEW) opened the photo exhibition ‘Life Triumphs!’ in the country capital of Chisinau. The exhibition was the result of a competition launched for the ‘Vienna Express 2010: Towards Universal Access’. 40 photos were selected for display from more than 100 that were submitted to the contest.

Olga Osadcii, AFEW Project Manager , and representative from AIDS Centre Ms. Ecaterina Rotaru opened the Exhibition with a press conference at MallDova, which was attended by a range of national media. The exhibition was then officially opened and as attendees entered the gallery they were encouraged to vote for their favorite photograph. By the end of the day a large number of votes had been collected. The exhibition and voting will be open until the 11th July, when the votes will then be counted and the winner will receive an award.

Dance Show in Trans-Dnieper Region of Moldova

On June 26, the Vienna Express rolled into the Trans-Dnieper city of Tiraspol, where an annual charity concert in aid of International Day against Drug Use and Illicit Trafficking was staged. Organisers included the Tiraspol Local Council’s Department for Physical Education, Sport and Youth and the Tiraspol Culture Council, NGO ‘Zdorovoe budushee’ (‘Healthy Future’) and fitness centre ‘Life Style’. AIDS Foundation East-West (AFEW) and NGO ‘Novaya Zhizn’ (‘New Life’) in Chisinau supported the event as part of the Vienna Express campaign and as part of their activities under Round 8 of the Global Fund’s project ‘Psychological Support for Injecting Drug Users’.

‘Drugs? Stop! There’s a Way Out’: Charity Concert in Trans-Dniester, Moldova

The charity concert ‘Drugs? Stop! There’s a Way Out’ will take place in Tiraspol (in the Trans-Dniester Region of Moldova) on July 26. The aim of the concert is to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS and drug use among the local population and to boost the response to the epidemic. Read more…
